No Business with Mushrooms is a fast paced suspense novella that follows Dr. Daniel Beck from his early years as a boy growing up in a poor alcoholic household in Western Pennsylvania through his success as a present-day Beverly Hills psychiatrist. It explores the people, and the character shaping events that fueled his passion to become a doctor and help others. His addiction to success and accomplishment challenges his well-being and moral balance.
He eschews the pharmaceutical establishment, that has been so lucrative to him over the years. He then starts a clinic to treat patients with an illegal alternative, magic mushrooms. This centuries old substance yields remarkable results in healing patients.
But like the marijuana industry, big business is interested in the future of mushroom therapy when it becomes legal. Daniel struggles against the forceful powers of a burgeoning market.
We are left to ponder that in this world of social media and live streaming, is the answer to mass market your services to billions, or reject the new world and focus on helping those in your immediate orbit? And if those are the possible answers, what is the question?
